Musto Equestrian Range
Welcome to the Musto equestrian section. The
riding clothing and accessories range was
launched in 1987 and was soon followed by
the Musto Snugs range in 1988, in 2004 we
saw William Fox-Pitt win Team Silver at the
Athens Olympics wearing Musto. Over the
years the country clothing side of the brand
has grown and we have recently seen the
addition of the summer range and the
innovation competition products.

section. With the use of a 3 layer system
and the development of more equestrian
products all the time Musto has a truly
wonderful selection suitable for everyone.
 Country
3 Layer System
Rather than one big bulky jacket Musto use a
3 layer system which allows the body to stay
dry and warm with the use of 3 lightweight
layers. To keep dry the clothing you wear
must transport body moisture away from the
skin while holding dry warm air close to the
body as well as keeping the rain out. This
is how the system works:
Base Layer
This is the layer that will sit next to the
skin and will transfer moisture away from
the body, all Musto's base layer products
are made from polyester fabrics which absorb
less than 0.5% of their weight. When you
compare this to cotton products which will
absorb more than 30+% their weight in water
and will transfer heat away from the body
there is a massive difference.
Middle Layer
The mid layer continues on from the base
layer with the transfer of moisture through
the clothing system, but the most important
job of the mid layer is to keep warm dry air
held close to the body.
Outer Layer
The outer layer keeps the outside elements
(rain, wind and snow) away and also keeps
the warm dry air insulated within the
clothing system. As with the mid layer it
continues with the transfer of moisture away
from the body and out into the open
completing the process. It achieves this by
using breathable waterproof fabrics which
all musto country clothing is designed to
